Cambridge, UK, 7 February, 2005 - CamFPD has delivered to a customer its first Wedge® optics product that is specifically designed for imaging applications. This device demonstrates the reversibility of Wedge® optics and allows a camera to view a high contrast and resolution image delivered through a flat piece of plastic.

CamFPD has also demonstrated that Wedge® optics can act as a camera and a display simultaneously. A projector can be used to produce an image on the Wedge® panel’s surface, and light scattered from objects close to the surface is reflected back and detected by a camera placed next to the projector. This bidirectional system allows touch screens, scanners and readers to be readily incorporated into display systems. The device has a wide range of applications such as security and ATM machines to volume consumer and commercial applications such as interactive TV and telephony displays.
