Cambridge, UK, 28 July, 2003 - A flat projection wedge® display with a 14” screen diagonal has recently been demonstrated by CamFPD. The screen is made entirely of plastic, can be used in daylight (with a brightness of up to 5000 candela per square metre) and is less than an inch thick. This gives vendors an open-air, daytime video display which is cheap, robust and easily replaced, while the projector can be protected in a vandal-resistant steel chamber at the base of the display. Says Michael Holmes, former chief executive of Opsys, “I know of no other display which can provide this combination of low cost, resistance to vandalism, and visibility in daylight.” A photograph of the screen and details of its performance are shown below.
