Wedge® optics brings the following benefits to lighting products:

More uniform planar emission - planar lights are usually made by mounting point or strip lights in a highly reflective cavity (as in most bus shelter or retail point of sale adverts). These suffer from a lack of uniformity, being brighter near the backlights and dimmer in the spaces between. Wedge® technology allows for considerably more uniform emitting surfaces.

Easier replacement of active components - because all the active elements (light bulbs, strip lights or LEDs) are mounted to the edge of the Wedge® panel, they can be replaced without access to the back. For long-life advertising products, this is likely to reduce overall costs of ownership.

Thinner overall shape - with light sources at the edge of the panel, the whole lighting system will be thinner than conventionally backlit systems.
